Get Rid Of The Big Brain Freeze When Writing

Chill out.  That’s all.  Sometimes, writing can become a chore if you don’t take a break at it.  Ideas come and go, and then, sometimes the story line takes no turn because you don’t know what should happen next.  It’s the frustration of the block - the infamous writer’s block.  Every writer has been there, and it isn’t the best time in the world to worry about it either.  Why?  It just makes it worse.  At this point, all authors need something to jump start their creative imagination once again so the story will get back in gear.

Question is - how does an empty creative head get full again?  Answer - go somewhere and do something other than write.

To be honest, writer’s block is just like any other thing.  You have been sitting there writing or typing and the scenery is the same each and every time.  More than likely, the victim of writer’s block has done nothing but write for the last couple of hours or days.  Grabbing an idea is simple, but you have to actually sometimes look for one.  For instance, if you are writing about children and don’t know what they should do next in your book, visit a park, sit on the bench and watch some of the things they say and do.  Be surprised how they help a grown up complete and little kiddie section in the book.  More than likely, it is pretty obvious, but because you are so grown up now, you forgot what children do and think and play.

The point is, get out of the writing zone for hours or days, do new things so that the new experiences lead your mind into a different frame of thought.  Moving back from the writing, also allows your brain to relax and use itself in other wise ways.  Let it run wild, and it won’t disappoint you in the long run.  When you sit back down at your computer or your pad, more than likely that idea that you got while you were out and about, will flow like rivers of gold kicking your writer’s block to the curb.
